What is a Flash Pass?
A Flash Pass gives people who missed your deadline one short, final chance to buy. Instead of your expired page, they're offered a pass, and when they claim it, a countdown of 10 to 60 minutes starts on your offer page.
Flash Pass is a Pro feature. On other plans, turning it on shows you how to upgrade.
How it works
- Your deadline ends. If you also use a deadline extension, the extension runs first. The Flash Pass always comes last.
- They see the Flash Pass. Instead of your expired page, a message tells them the offer has ended and offers them one last chance, with a button to claim it.
- They claim it. Clicking the button takes them to your offer page and starts their flash deadline straight away. You choose how long it lasts, from 10 to 60 minutes.
- The offer closes for good. When the flash deadline ends, they see your normal expired page or are redirected. A Flash Pass can only be used once.
Why use a Flash Pass
- Win back people who just missed out. Some people meant to buy and simply got busy. A Flash Pass catches them at the moment they come back.
- A short window gets a decision. With minutes rather than days on the clock, there's no time to put it off again.
- Your deadline stays real. The offer still ended on time. The pass is a single, short window that the person has to choose to start, and once it's used, it's gone.
- You can see what it earns. Your campaign stats show Flash Pass sales separately from sales before the deadline and during an extension. This needs the conversion tracking script on your thank you page.
Flash Pass or deadline extension?
Both give people more time, in different ways. You can use either one or both.
| Deadline extension | Flash Pass | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 12 to 72 hours | 10 to 60 minutes |
| How it starts | Automatically, or when your webhook fires | When the person clicks to claim it |
| Where it shows | Everywhere their deadline shows, including your emails | On your offer page |
| Campaign types | Email and fixed date campaigns | All campaign types |
If you turn on both, people get the extension first, then the Flash Pass once the extension has ended.
Who can claim one
This depends on the type of campaign:
- Email campaign: each contact can claim one Flash Pass. It's recorded on our server, so it can't be used again by switching browsers.
- Direct campaign: anyone who visits after their deadline ends sees the Flash Pass, once per browser.
- Fixed date campaign: you choose under Who gets a Flash Pass?
- People who visited the offer before the deadline ended: only people who saw your offer while it was running. Each pass is recorded on our server and works once.
- Anyone who visits after the deadline has ended: every visitor after the deadline, once per browser. Someone using a different browser could claim another.
Turn it on
- Open your campaign and go to the Deadline tab.
- In the Flash Pass section, turn on Offer a Flash Pass after the deadline ends.
- Set the Flash Pass deadline with the up and down arrows. It moves in 5-minute steps and starts at 30 minutes.
- For a fixed date campaign, choose Who gets a Flash Pass?
- Click Customize Flash Pass to change its wording, colors, icon, and button.
- Save your campaign.
Tip: type {{flash-time}} in the Flash Pass message and it shows the number of minutes you set. If you change the length later, the message stays correct.
To check how it looks, click Preview on the campaign and switch to the Flash Pass stage. You don't need to wait for a real deadline to end.
